Our skills groups are designed to help you gain support and learn new behaviors to make life worth living and sharing. Groups are held in-person or via telehealth with a weekly evidence-based curriculum, delivered to you by our highly trained clinicians. Each week homework is assigned, offering you a chance to use your newly acquired skills in real-life situations.
Skills Group Only Training Program
Tampa Bay DBT offers a DBT skills group for individuals who are not in our comprehensive DBT program. Attending the skills group only has been proven to be effective for some individuals. This program is intended for individuals that are on a waiting list to get into our comprehensive DBT program. This program is also appropriate for those that want to learn skills to manage/regulate their emotions, to manage relationships, and to manage crisis situations. This group follows the same curriculum and format as our comprehensive DBT program.
In order to participate, all members must have an individual therapist they are meeting with weekly. This therapist does not have to be trained in DBT. There is a 24 week commitment required to attend this group.
Groups are scheduled weekly for 90 minutes, day and evening times are available. We host separate groups for teens and adults to ensure you are surrounded by a group of similar aged peers. The duration of the groups program depends on which treatment you are receiving:
- Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) – 24 weeks
- Adults: Tuesdays Mondays 12:00pm-1:30pm or 6:30pm-8pm
- Adolescents: Thursdays 5:00pm-6:30pm
- Radically Open DBT – 30 weeks
- Adults: Thursdays 6:30pm-8:00pm
- Adolescents: Tuesdays 5:00pm-6:30pm
- Group Only DBT Skills – 24 weeks
- Adults: Mondays 5:00pm-6:30pm
